Windows 10 Network Protocol Error: Missing Windows Sockets Registry Entries By Corey October 5, 2020 No Comments My colleagues work computer running Windows 10 began to lose Internet access from time to time (once in 2-3 days with the Limited connection status in the tray). Windows 10 Home and Windows 10 Pro no longer contain the SMBv1 server by default after a clean installation. Windows 10 Home and Windows 10 Pro still contain the SMBv1 client by default after a clean installation. If the SMBv1 client is not used for 15 days in total (excluding the computer being turned off), it automatically uninstalls itself.

Networking :: One Or More Network Protocols Missing?

Jan 12, 2016

So I've had this issue for about three days now. I am able to connect to my home router, but I am unable to connect to the Internet. Troubleshooter said 'One or more network protocols are missing'. Not sure what happened, never touched networking except for connecting to my network. I created a thread on Microsoft Answers website. You can view the page here: One or more network protocols are missing on this computer....

Networking :: One Or More Network Protocols Are Missing?

I just had this very annoying issue for a while, and scouring the internet proved to no avail. However, I stumbled upon the solution by myself. Simply go into an elevated command prompt and enter netsh int ipv4 install and restart your computer.
This is what solved the problem for me, though I had already tried a few suggestions (resetting winsock, giving permissions in NSI, etc) so that might have something to do with it.

Networking :: One Or More Network Protocols Missing In Computer

Feb 10, 2016

When I run the troubleshooting I keep getting the message that says:
'One or more network protocols are missing in this computer'.
When I run the 'netsh winsock reset' in the Administrator Command Center, I get the messages:
' The following DLL cannot be loaded: NETIOHLP.DLL' and 'The following DLL cannot be loaded: NSHIPSEC.DLL'.

Networking :: One Or More Network Protocols Are Missing On This Computer?

this issue has plagued me forever since windows 10, and even slightly in windows 8.1. this issue would come randomly and i cant connect to internet even if i were a point blank in front of the router. running the troubleshooting does not fix it. the only way to fix it most of the time is to disable the wifi adapter for about 2 minutes and re enable it again. in some cases only a reboot can fix it and in rare cases it can only be fixed by uninstalling the wifi drivers and starting over.i have tried with 3 different wifi adapters, 2 computers and 2 routers.
it seems to struggle the most with connecting to optimum wifi/Xfinity wifi (which my laptop is added to my account) its mainly this optimum wifi here causing issues making router itself a issue but still. the other router is my 4g sprint hotspot, sometimes on rare occasion the same thing happens.

Networking :: One Or More Network Protocols Are Missing On This Computer

Jan 2, 2016

This happened after the latest major update.
I've tried the following steps with no success 1) sfc /scannow. This showed no errors
2) netsh advfirewall reset netsh int ip reset*** netsh int ipv6 reset netsh int ipv4 reset netsh winsock reset *** This command did not work originally until I went to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SYSTEM/CurrentControl and changed Control/NSI folder 26 permission to everyone (This box was unchecked again after reboot
3) ipconfig /flushdns ipconfig /registerdns ipconfig /release ipconfig /renew
4) Disabling and Renabling the Network Adapter within device manager.
5) Uninstalling the driver
6) Installing the latest drivers both from the Asrock/intel website and googling my network adapter.
7) I saw the fix where someone deletes the Windows 10 WIN and WIN2, and replaces with a clean Windows 7/8 version in this registry: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESystemCurrentControlSetServicesWinsock HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESystemCurrentControlSetServicesWinsock2
- Did not work also, it gave me a new problem no ethernet something which troubleshoot can't also fix.
8) Finally Reset W10. Still get the same error

Networking :: No Internet Connection - Missing Network Protocols

Feb 10, 2016

I have suddenly noticed a problem with internet connection. I cannot download any apps from Microsoft store (with unknown error message). Strange is that each other software (cloud clients, browser, ....) works perfectly.
I have already searched for solution on google and found command wsreset.exe but this did not work..
I have also tried network troubleshooter. It has found these errors:There is one or more missing network protocols. Windows sockets registry entries are missing
I have tried to repair these errors with some netsh commands, which actually did something but did not solve anything.
Another solution is to reinstall network drivers but this did not work either.

I have w10, running a static ip address through time warner cable in Ohio. Time warner said they had a problem on their end, ever since then I can't connect to our security cameras. I run a powerline from the house to the office., have reset my computer, modem and wireless router. Still getting the same error - one or more network protocols are missing from this computer. I tried talking with time warner cable - no go!

Networking :: Missing Network Protocols Prevent Access To Shared Folder?

Feb 10, 2016

From one of my Windows 10 machines I am unable to access the shared folders on the other. The troubleshooter says 'One or more network protocols are missing on this computer' and 'Windows Sockets registry entries required for network connectivity are missing.'
I have run sfc /scannow, but no problems were found. I don't get the problem when sharing in the other direction or when accessing the shared folders on the same machine.
This comes amidst a cluster of sharing-related problems. Before the reboot after which the present problem manifested itself, shares going in the other direction were invisible in the network browser (but could be accessed via the search bar). Also, the machine in question does not appear in the HomeGroup browser even though it is a member of the HomeGroup.

Networking :: Network Protocols / Windows Sockets Registry Entries Required For Connectivity Missing

Nov 15, 2015

Problem trying to connect to internet on laptop, but all working as normal on desktop.
Investigations revealed....one or more Network Protocols are missing on this computer, also Windows sockets registry entries required for network connectivity are missing....this on both Ethernet and wireless but they had been working perfectly since the update last week.
My laptop supposedly required 'Internet connections Package Version 3.0 Publisher Microsoft Windows.'
After messing about for an hour without success I loaded the 1511.. ISO.. knowing that I could not connect to the internet to download anything, this seemed to solve the problem, (fingers crossed) I can only assume this made the internet connection possible.

One Or More Network Protocols Are Missing

Apr 5, 2016

Several times a day, my laptop's WiFi connection status changes from 'Internet access' to 'No internet'. When I use 'Troubleshoot problems', I get this: 'One or more network protocols are missing on this computer - Windows sockets registry entries required for network connectivity are missing'. Trying the 'perform repairs as administrator' fix does nothing, but restarting the computer lets me connect properly again. However, losing connectivity and restarting my computer every couple hours is getting irritating.
Earlier in the year I was getting the same message, but at that time simply restarting wouldn't fix it, I believe I needed to do either 'netsh winsock reset' or 'netsh int ip reset'. I honestly don't remember why it stopped happening, possibly changing away from Bitdefender antivirus (which fixed the BSOD problem I was having) worked. I haven't reinstalled Bitdefender, so I assume it's not that.

One Or More Network Protocols Are Missing Internet Error

Jan 27, 2016

After updating my windows 10 rig, I cannot connect to the internet. When I run the troubleshooter, this error message shows up, 'one or more network protocols are missing'. I have tried several fixes including uninstalling and reinstalling the network drivers, going in and installing any missing network protocols, and a few other things. Nothing has worked or made any visible progress. I also used system restore, and restored to before the update, but it didn't do anything either.

Lenovo Z575 Laptop - One Or More Network Protocols Missing

Jan 6, 2016

I have a Lenovo Z575 laptop w/ Windows 10. I recently updated to Windows 10 a couple months ago and everything was fine up until recently. I've been having this issue the past couple of days where I try to load up a webpage, it states that connection has timed out, so I use the Troubleshoot Problems option for my wifi, and it gives me the statement 'One or more network protocols are missing'. I used the 'netsh int ip reset' command in the Command Prompt, and that seemed to work at first, but yesterday it happened again, only this time, it seems to pick and choose what pages load.

One Or More Network Protocols Missing Message After Clean Install

Mar 16, 2016

So as the title says I'm receiving this error when connecting to the internet that says 'one or more internet protocols is missing on this device'.
First a little back story: To make it short, I just I replaced the power supply in my PC, and disconnected/reconnected all cables, including data cables. When I booted my PC back up I was having this issue. The icon shows that I have internet but it will not connect in the browser or download updates.
I have seen other threads with this same error message and I have tried every software fix I have seen at this point, including uninstalling and reinstalling my drivers. In desperation I did a clean install of windows 10 hoping it would fix this issue.

Networking :: Missing Internet Protocols?

Feb 10, 2016
Missing

So I have been without internet for a couple weeks and have spent hours trying to figure out what is wrong with my computer. I only have an ethernet port on my machine, connected to my router via powerline adapters (which work with my other PCs). Windows troubleshooter tells me that there are missing protocols, I have tried various things and nothing has worked. I have already tried: winsock reset(tool), replacing my winsock registry keys with another windows pc, I have tried that sfc /scannow command, no errors were found, i have also tried disabling netbios.
At some point I accidentally uninstalled 'microsoft network adapter multiplexer protocol', dont know how to reinstall it and now I am getting and ip config error from the troubleshooter. At this point I am thinking about re-installing windows. Is there a way to do this without losing settings for applications? This is such a freaking mess.

Networking :: 2 Network Drives Missing In Action

Jan 3, 2016

We have 2 desktops, 2 convertibles and an hp tablet. We started with total mess network wise - tried most of the fixes and none really worked. I removed homegroup and started over making sure ALL units were in homegroup and still had problems. After many tries of fixes etc. I discovered two of the units were in different workgroups??
We are finally able to see all computers on all the computers but are left with two network drives which show up as media units but never show up and available in the computer area on all computers. Both show up fine on my desktop but never on any of the other units.
Have rebooted, checked settings and what to check now. We have used networking of some sort for years and depend on it - have been without it now for way too long.

Networking :: Computers Suddenly Missing On Network?

Jan 22, 2016

Our home network has a desktop and 3 laptops. The 3 laptops all print through the network to the printer attached to the desktop.
For some reason only 1 of the laptops now shows in the desktop network folder. The other 2 have vanished and cannot see the desktop either so no printing. I have tried running both Homegroups and using names & passwords but no difference. I also have a server on the network and that has vanished.
I have checked the credentials and all passwords and names are correct.
I have removed Avast anti-virus and have Windows firewall set to default settings running with Defender.
Windows 10 is the latest version 1511 on all the PCs.

Networking :: Network Protocol Missing After Update?

Dec 17, 2015

Cannot access the Internet after version 10 is installed on my desktop.

There are two types of people: those who use default apps on their Windows PC and those who don't. That's what I thought until I found that there's a third category too. They are people who don't even want these default apps on their computers. For those using Windows default apps, this post will cover six (6) ways to recover them if they ever go missing on your computer.

Some Windows 10 users have reported that select default apps and programs previously present and functional on their PC were nowhere to be found. While it is common to encounter this issue after a recent OS update, it could also be —albeit rarely— caused by some other (unknown) factors.

So far, some of the default apps reported to have gone missing include Microsoft Edge, News, Microsoft Store, Mail, Calendar, and the Weather app. If you are encountering this issue of missing apps after a Windows 10 update, here are six ways to fix that and recover those apps.

Method 1: Delete/Disable God Mode

Windows has a hidden folder that gives advanced users access to the OS control panel and other nifty settings in one folder. Colloquially known as God Mode, the Windows Master Control Panel shortcut lets you do a lot of things. For example, you can use it to make your Windows 10 PC run faster, among other things.

Enabling God Mode can cause some default apps and programs to go missing on your computer. Some affected users have reported that simply deleting the God Mode folder on their PC resolved the missing default apps issue.

If your default apps are missing and you have a God Mode folder on your computer, deleting it and restarting your device could help restore them. Otherwise, try method #2 below.

Method 2: Update Your Windows 10

The missing default app and program issue sometimes stem from a bug that accompanies the installation of certain Windows 10 versions. Simply updating your PC's Windows 10 operating system could also fix this issue and restore any missing default apps.

Step 1: Hit the Windows logo + I short to launch the Windows Settings menu.

Step 2: Click 'Update & Security'.

If there are any updates available, there will be an Updates Available message in the updates section.

Important: Ensure your PC is connected to the internet before trying the Windows update.

Step 3: Tap the Download button to download and install updates on your PC.

When the download and installation processes have been completed, your default apps should be restored. If, on the other hand, your OS is up-to-date and the default apps are still missing, try method below.

Method 3: Reinstall from Microsoft Store

If the missing default apps are just about one or two, and the methods above failed to restore them to your PC, you might want to reinstall them from the Microsoft Store manually. Simply type in the name of the app in the search box and tap the Get button to install on your computer.

Method 4: Run Troubleshooter for Windows Store Apps

The Windows OS comes with a dedicated troubleshooter for fixing any issue with default or built-in apps on your computer. Running this troubleshooter could help diagnose, fix, and restore the missing default apps on your PC. Here's how to go about it.

Step 1: Tap the Windows logo + I keys to launch the Windows Settings menu.

Step 2: In the Settings menu search box, type in Windows Store apps and tap the resulting option (i.e. 'Find and fix problems with Windows Store Apps').

That launches the Windows Store Apps troubleshooter.

Step 3: Tap Advanced.

Step 4: Ensure the 'Apply repairs automatically' box is checked.

Step 5: Now, tap Next to run the troubleshooter.

If the missing apps aren't restored, try the next method.

Method 5: Reinstall All Default Apps

If you cannot find all the built-in apps on your PC, you can use the Windows PowerShell to restore them all. This is a very easy and effective thing to do.

Step 1: Type in powershell in Windows search box. Right the Windows PowerShell app in the search result and run as administrator.

Step 2: Type this command into the PowerShell window and tap the Enter.

This command will commence installation of the Windows default apps on your computer. Restart your computer after that process completes.

Note: The Windows PowerShell will do the app reinstallation in the background, and it might take some minutes.

Missing Protocol Windows 10

Method 6: Reset Your PC

Doing a full or partial reset of your Windows device could also help restore these default apps. This method should, however, be used as a last resort because you would lose all the third-party apps on your PC. If that wouldn't be a problem, then go proceed to reset your computer. Here's how to go about it.

Step 1: Tap the Windows logo key + I button on the keyboard to launch the Windows Settings menu.

Step 2: Tap 'Update & Security'.

Step 3: On the left menu, tap Recovery.

Step 4: Under the 'Reset this PC' section, tap the Get started button.

Note: On the next page, ensure you choose the 'Keep my files' option. That secures your data during the reset process.
