Cities Skylines Performance Mod

Cities: Skylines had a successful and impressive launch. Since then, players have not only been playing the game, but also working away at it in their shops. There are three mods in particular that you may want to investigate over on Steam’s Workshop.

Demonstrated in the video above is the first-person camera, which will let you traverse your city up close and personally. You’re not quite walking on foot or driving a car—it’s more like you’re a futuristic, hovering Amazon delivery drone—and you’ll notice some funny behavior from this close, like cars driving through each other, but the kinks don’t spoil it. The modder also recommends you install HideUI and Dynamic Resolution (there are complaints that the latter doesn’t work, but it can’t hurt to try), which will improve the FPS experience.

The ChirpFilter removes all the unnecessary chatter, and gives you only those messages that require your attention—with one exception. The weedy #420blazeit pro-legalization chirps are still there; the modder is working on fixing this, however.

Lastly, the ambient occlusion mod is a simple but significant graphical improvement that adds a bit more depth and realism to the graphics. Check out the gif of it in action below.
